Find out more: The Renaissance

research4 Tasks

  1. The Renaissance period was known for great achievements in painting, sculpture, architecture, medicine, science, the development of mechanical skills (including printing) and, of course, literature. Choose one of these areas and make a five to ten-minute oral presentation about it.
  2. Research one of the poets/dramatists we have mentioned (in the text-book chapter called ‘The Renaissance and Shakespeare’), or find another writer from the period who interests you. Find one example of the writer’s work and present it in class. Afterwards, write a short essay on the merits of the work you have chosen.
  3. Choose another Shakespearean sonnet. Working individually or in groups, present the sonnet of your choice to the rest of the class. In your presentation, you should explain why you chose this particular sonnet, that is, why it appeals to you.
