Task 4 p. 130: Gin Lane vs. Beer Street

art Hogarth’s engraving "Gin Lane" (see page 95) was originally printed as part of a pair. The other picture is entitled "Beer Street" and shows a very different scene. Unlike gin, beer was regarded as a healthy drink, both for the individual and for society as a whole, and "Beer Street" presents an idealised picture of city life.
